What does the blood of Christ accomplish beyond paying for sin?

Christ’s blood accomplishes propitiation through faith, redemption or buying back, and free justification by God’s grace. Beyond paying for sin, it carries the potential power of life itself—eternal life—because life is in the blood. It also declares God’s righteousness, showing Him just and the justifier of the one who believes.

Les teaches from the passage that every person is a lawbreaker and sinner by nature, so no flesh is justified by the Law. The remedy is being justified freely by God’s grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. God set Christ forth as a propitiation through faith in His blood. Les explains that blood was special in God’s sight, going back to Genesis 9 and Leviticus 17, because life is in the blood. Therefore Christ’s blood signifies His death but far more carries the potential power of life—eternal life. It declares God’s righteousness for remission of sins and shows Him just while justifying the one who believes, not the one who keeps commandments or boasts.

Romans 3:25
