Les Feldick Bible Study

How far does the influence of God's law reach since it was given to Israel?

Although the Ten Commandments were given directly to Israel and not to the Gentile world, because they are the Law of the sovereign Creator God, their influence reaches to the ends of the earth. Consequently, every mouth is stopped, and all the world—not just Israel—becomes guilty before God.

Les teaches that the Ten Commandments were directly given to the nation of Israel, not to the Gentile world. Yet because this is the Law of the sovereign Creator God, its influence still extends to the ends of the earth. As a result, every mouth is stopped, and all the world, not just Israel, becomes guilty before God. Even a Gentile cannot claim innocence after stealing, because God's Law says stealing is against His will and His Law. Therefore, by the deeds of the Law—by law keeping or works—no flesh, Jew or Gentile, shall be justified in His sight. The Law has only one function: to show mankind how sinful they really are. Les points out that many people think keeping the Law and Commandments earns them brownie points or lets them slip in under the door, but he says it will not work that way. The Law was not given for that purpose.

Romans 3:19

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
