What is true prophecy?
True prophecy is telling the future as understood in the Old Testament. It is almost always the case that when God made a promise, He placed it within a specific time frame, naming the day and the number of years involved in that particular prophecy. This demonstrates how explicit God is when He tells the future.
Les explains that the period from Abraham until the church age is called the time of prophecy, the prophetic program, or the Old Testament program. He teaches that true prophecy, which is telling the future as understood in the Old Testament, is almost always accompanied by a time frame whenever God made a promise. God is explicit: He will name the day and the number of years involved in that particular prophecy. Les directs listeners to Genesis 15 to make these things as plain as possible, showing how precise God is when He tells the future.
