What did Paul do in Damascus after he regained his sight following his encounter with the Lord on the road?
After regaining his sight in Damascus, Paul entered the synagogue and proclaimed that Jesus was the Christ. That message proved insufficient for God's further revelations, and opposition arose; Jews sought to kill him, so he fled for his life, being let down over the city wall in a basket.
Les explains that after Paul met the Lord on the road, was stricken blind, received food and sustenance, and got his sight back, he went into the synagogue in Damascus and proclaimed that Jesus was the Christ. But Les points out that this was no longer sufficient; it was not enough merely to believe Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God, because God had further revelations for him. Opposition then arose from Jews who saw he had turned coat, and they were ready to put him to death. Paul had to flee for his life, being let down over the wall in a basket. He later recalled that the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison desiring to apprehend him, and he escaped through a window in a basket. Les says this suffering and fear began right from the beginning and was part of preparing the man to take the Gospel of Grace.
And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
