Why should Christians in America thank God for the freedom to study the Bible without fear?
Christians in America should thank God because they possess rare liberties and guarantees that allow them to sit down without fear and study the Word of God. Much of the world lacks this freedom, and many believers have suffered or been martyred for their faith, so such liberty and opportunity should never be taken for granted.
Les explains that in the last hundred years more Christians have been martyred than in all the other periods back to the time of Christ, and he notes that in places like China and Africa believers have suffered greatly for their faith. By contrast, we in America are blessed with liberties, freedoms, and guarantees of freedom, a rare commodity. Many areas of the world would love simply to be able to sit down without fear and study the Word of God. Therefore, Les says, we should never fail to thank God that we are in such a place of liberty and opportunity.
