Why should Christians in America thank God for their religious liberty?
American believers should thank God because their liberties and guarantees of freedom are a rare commodity; they can sit without fear and study the Word of God. Many Christians elsewhere have suffered for their faith, and more were martyred in the last century than in all prior periods since Christ.
Les explains that in the last 100 years more Christians have been martyred than in all the other periods back to the time of Christ. He notes that in China and Africa believers have suffered greatly for their faith. Yet Americans sit blessed with liberties, freedoms, and guarantees of freedom, which he calls a rare commodity. Many areas of the world would love to be able to sit down without fear and study the Word of God. So he urges never failing to thank God for such a place of liberty and opportunity.
