What were the Corinthians before believing the gospel and what did they become?
Before believing the gospel, the Corinthians were pagans, idolaters, immoral, and carnal, having recently come out of paganism. After believing the gospel, they became new creations in Christ Jesus, and despite remaining carnality, they brought joy to Paul and Titus.
Les explains that the Corinthian believers had been pagan, idolaters, immoral, and everything that went along with it, recently brought out of paganism. Yet through believing the gospel, they became new creations in Christ Jesus. Even in their carnality, they were a thrill to the apostle Paul and to his helper Titus. Paul addressed their issues directly, and the change in the whole congregation enhanced Paul's ministry, the congregation, and young Titus. Paul expressed confidence in them in all things.
