Were the Corinthians believers or unbelievers, and what was wrong with them?

The Corinthians were for the most part believers, but they were carnal rather than spiritual. They remained fleshly, did not grow as Paul expected, and showed their carnality through divisions, envying, strife, and loyalty to pet leaders. Even their small house congregation was marked by divisions.

Les explains that the saved are divided into spiritual believers and carnal believers, while unbelievers form the third segment. He notes the Corinthian believers were for the most part believers, yet carnal and still fleshly, not growing as Paul expected. Their carnality showed itself in divisions, envying, and strife, as they followed pet people. This was evident even in the small congregation meeting in the house of Chloe.
