What did God promise about the land of Goshen in Exodus 8:22?

God promised to sever, or separate, the land of Goshen, in which His people dwell, so that no swarms of flies would be there, to the end they would know that He is the Lord in the midst of the earth.

Les teaches that Exodus 8 records the plagues coming upon Pharaoh's Egypt. He notes that during the first three plagues, Israel had to come under them as well as the Egyptians. But at Exodus 8:22 God said He would sever, or separate, the land of Goshen where His people dwell, so that no swarms of flies would be there, so that they would know He is the Lord in the midst of the earth. This fits the separation theme that God's people had to be separated from the world around them.

Exodus 8:22

And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
