What happened to Israel when they lost contact with the Word of God?
When Israel lost contact with the Word of God, they went down the tube nationally. The pattern is clear: when the Word of God is withdrawn from a people, they experience national decline. This happened to Israel at times in her history, demonstrating the consequences of losing access to Scripture.
Les explains that Israel at times in her history lost contact with the Word of God, and the result was that they went down the tube nationally. He ties this to the principle that when the Word of God is withdrawn, the human race suffers decline. He cites the Dark Ages as an example, when the Word of God was confined to the monasteries and the average man didn't have access to it. So Israel's national downfall serves as a warning of what happens when a people lose contact with the Word of God.
