What promise does God give to believers in 2 Corinthians 6:16?

God promises that He will dwell in believers and walk in them; He will be their God, and they shall be His people. Their human physical body is the temple of the living God, and this promise belongs only to the believer, not the unbeliever.

Les explains that in 2 Corinthians 6:16 the temple of God being discussed is the believer's human physical body, which is the temple of the living God. He contrasts this with idols and with Belial, a term meaning something worthless, showing how absurd it is to join Christ with worthlessness. The promise God gives is that He will dwell in believers, walk in them, be their God, and they shall be His people. Les notes this is the promise to the believer, and the unbeliever cannot claim it.

2 Corinthians 6:16

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
