What does Jesus say the Laodicean church actually is?

Jesus says the Laodicean church actually is wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. Although it claims to be rich, increased with goods, and having need of nothing materially, He declares that it does not know its true condition. Its wealth is not the spiritual reality He sees.

In Revelation chapter 3, verse 17, the Lord Jesus condemns the Laodicean congregation. They say they are rich, increased with goods, and have need of nothing materially, but Jesus says they do not know that they are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. Les explains that this describes most of Christendom tonight: congregations may have tremendous plants, huge sanctuaries, fellowship halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, and tennis courts, yet for the most part they are spiritually dead. By contrast, the apostle Paul came from that kind of wealth and high religious experience but became poor as a church mouse for the sake of the gospel.

Revelation 3:17

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
