What event is our gospel based on, since it is not based on Jesus' earthly ministry?
The gospel is based on the crucified and resurrected Christ, and specifically on that which was revealed after His resurrection and ascension. It is not based on Jesus of Nazareth’s earthly ministry, though He is the same person. This gospel has now gone to the whole world, not only Israel.
Les teaches that Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, constantly emphasized that Christ did not now deal only with Israel, but that the gospel has now gone to the whole world. In 2 Corinthians, the love of Christ constrains us because one died for all, the whole human race. Since Adam fell, every human being has inherited the Adamic nature and is part of a fallen race, spiritually dead. The crucified and resurrected Christ becomes the object of our faith, not the Jesus of Nazareth in His earthly ministry, although He is one and the same person. Our gospel is based on that which was revealed after His resurrection and ascension.
