What is the Gospel of the Kingdom based on according to this lesson?
According to this lesson, the Gospel of the Kingdom is based on the covenants and on Christ's earthly ministry. It belonged to the Jewish program and the early Acts Gospel account, where Jesus called it the Gospel of the Kingdom. After Israel continued rejecting it, it faded and the Gospel of Grace took its place.
Les explains that in the Gospel account in the early Acts, it is the Gospel of the Kingdom, and that is what Jesus called it over and over. He says this Gospel of the Kingdom was based on the covenants and based on Christ's earthly ministry. When you come from the Jewish program, the Gospel of the Kingdom is tied to Israel, and when Israel continues to reject it, God turns to the Gentile with that other apostle, introduced later in chapter 9. Les also notes that when you get into Paul's letters, you never see the term "the Gospel of the Kingdom" again, because it faded off the scene and the Gospel of Grace took its place. In the chapter being discussed, the twelve are still ministering to Israel, multitudes are being added, and the sick are brought into the streets, which Les says is a repeat of the Gospels.
