How should believers live in light of Christ dying and rising for them?
Believers who have believed the Gospel and become spiritually alive should not henceforth live unto themselves. Instead, they are to live unto Him who died for them and rose again, since Christ paid the price and died substitutionally for every man.
Les explains from II Corinthians 5:15 that since Christ died for all, not everyone enjoys the results of His death because they have not believed it. But for those who have believed the Gospel and become spiritually alive, they should not henceforth live unto themselves, but live unto Him who died for them and rose again. Les connects this with Hebrews 2, where Jesus was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, was crowned with glory and honor, and by the grace of God tasted death for every man. He died the death every human being should have had, substitutionally on their behalf. Les laments that God has done everything needed for salvation, yet many walk it underfoot. He also notes that God does not expect every believer to suffer as the Apostle Paul did, but the call remains to live unto the One who died and rose again.
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
