Why are believers saved—to sit or to serve?

Believers are saved to serve, not to sit. Salvation is a gift of God, but once received, God logically expects His people to go to work and work for reward. Every believer has some gift to use, and that service will be brought about at the behemoth seat of Christ.

Les explains that while salvation is a gift of God, receiving it is not the end. God logically expects the believer to go to work and work for reward, because believers are not saved to sit but saved to serve. That service is brought about at the behemoth seat of Christ. Les also warns not to confuse rewards with the crowns—such as the crown of righteousness and the crown of life—since he does not think they are one and the same. Rewards are what believers receive for what they have done in the body during this earthly sojourn. From Romans, Paul listed gifted men given to the church; not everyone has the same gift or works in the same area for reward, but every believer has something God has given that can be used as a gift and precipitate rewards. Paul alludes to this repeatedly in I Corinthians chapter 9 by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
