What would happen if Christ came today as He did in Bible times?
Human nature is no different today than it was then. If Christ came on the scene today as He did then, the human race would do the same thing: crucify Him, reject Him, and not believe Him. Everything that happened to Israel exposed human nature, and we are of the same nature, with no difference.
Les teaches that human nature is no different today than it was in Bible times, so if Christ were to come on the scene today as He did then, the human race would respond the same way: they would crucify Him, reject Him, and not believe Him. He explains that everything that happened to Israel is an exposure of human nature, and we share the same nature; there is no difference. In the account, Moses delayed coming down out of the mount, and the people gathered to Aaron asking him to make gods to go before them. Les also notes that even with God's miraculous deliverance from Egypt, the opened Red Sea, and the cloud and pillar of fire still over them, they quickly turned aside when Moses was gone. He sees the same tendency in modern people, such as New Agers worshiping the sun, showing how enlightened people can fall for such things.
