Les Feldick Bible Study

If we're under grace and not under law, is the law still of any use to the believer?

Yes. Although believers are under grace rather than law, the law remains basic and useful even in the age of grace. It is not discarded; its moral principles are part and parcel of the social fabric governing relationships with God and fellow man. It remains a foundational guide for how believers relate to God and to others.

Les teaches that he is known as the teacher who maintains believers are not under law but under grace, yet he insists he is not throwing the law out the window as of no use. He calls the law basic, even in the age of grace. In the context of these ten, the first concerns loving the Lord God, while the others deal with fellow man—home, family, neighbors, and co-workers. Jesus summed these into two great areas: man with his God and man with his fellow man. Les then points to Paul in Romans 13:8, saying, “Owe no man anything,” with “defraud no man,” showing the law’s principles remain part and parcel of the believer’s social fabric.
