How should a child of God respond to the Ten Commandments even though we all fail?
A child of God is not under law but under grace, yet should not throw the Ten Commandments out as useless. They remain basic even in the age of grace. Though every believer will fail at times, by God's grace he responds to them in love toward God and fellow man.
Les explains that he wants to be known as the teacher who maintains you are not under law but under grace. However, he is not throwing the law out the window as of no use. The Ten Commandments are basic, even in the age of grace. Every child of God is hopefully responding to these ten, though Les acknowledges we are all going to fail; by God's grace, they are part and parcel of our social fabric. Jesus put the commandments into two great areas of human relationships: man with his God and man with his fellow man. The first is to love the Lord thy God, and the others concern our home, family, neighbors, and co-workers. Paul then comes back to this in Romans 13:8, saying, Owe no man anything, but to—pointing to the word of love for one another.
