Do the Ten Commandments deal with our relationship with God or with other people?

The Ten Commandments deal with both. The first concerns loving God, while the others primarily govern relationships with fellow man: home, family, neighbors, and co-workers. Jesus grouped them into two great areas of human relationships: man with his God and man with his fellow man.

Les explains that Jesus puts the commandments into perspective. The first is to love the Lord thy God, but the rest have nothing to do particularly with our relationship with God; they deal with fellow man, our home, family, neighbors, co-workers, and everything else. Jesus lumps them into two great areas of human relationships: man with his God and man with his fellow man. Les also notes Paul adds the frosting in Romans 13, showing the law is basic even in the age of grace and part of our social fabric.
