Does the Sabbath commandment include a command to work six days?

Yes. The Sabbath commandment includes the instruction that six days you shall work, and the seventh day you may rest. Scripture presents both sides as part of the same command, so resting on the seventh day is tied to working the previous six days.

Les teaches that part of the Sabbath commandment says, "six days you will work," and then the seventh one you can rest. He notes that many people today do not want to work and would prefer five days or even four. He also points out the inconsistency of those who emphasize Sabbath keeping but would not be willing to work six days, saying we cannot take the portions of Scripture we like and leave out what we do not like; we have to keep it all. He ties this commandment with the first five as man's relationship to God because the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God, though he acknowledges some groups place it with the final six as man's relationship with man.
