Les Feldick Bible Study

What did every Jew living at that time have to do before Christ could return and give the kingdom to Israel?

Every Jew living then had to come to regeneration—a salvation experience through repentance and water baptism. Only after that could Christ have returned and given the kingdom to Israel. Israel instead rejected it repeatedly, so the kingdom promise was not fulfilled at that time.

Les teaches that every Jew living at that time would have had to come to a place of regeneration, of a salvation experience through that repentance and water baptism, and then Christ could have returned and yet given the kingdom of Israel. But Israel rejected it, and rejected it, and rejected it. The context also shows Israel was under the law during Christ’s earthly ministry: the temple was operating, animals were still being sacrificed, and Jesus did not tell them to stop the sacrifices. Even after His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, Peter and John went to the temple at the hour of prayer. Christianity, unlike some religions, never had designated hours of prayer.

Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
