What was every Jew supposed to be prepared to do as a kingdom of priests?

Every Jew was to be a prepared go-between, a priestly intermediary between the pagan world around them and Israel’s God. As God’s set-apart kingdom of priests, Israel was intended to represent Him and reach the pagans, fulfilling the role of a priest who stands between two parties.

Les explains from Exodus 19 that God, in His sovereignty, chose Israel as a treasure above all people because all the earth is His. If they were obedient, God promised they would be a kingdom of priests and a holy, set-apart nation. Since a priest is a go-between, every Jew was to be prepared to stand someday between the pagan world around them and Israel’s God. Les says this was Israel’s purpose: to be a kingdom of go-betweens, though most people fail to understand it.
