Why is Israel the center of God's dealings with the nations and world events?

Les teaches that this whole world revolves around God and His chosen people, Israel. Even though Israel is presently in blindness and dispersion, they are still in the news three times a day, seven days a week, because they are at the very vortex of all of God's dealing with the nations. Politicians cannot stab Israel in the back and get away with it, nor can they ignore it and hope it will go away. Jerusalem, from day one, God said would be a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, and the world is in constant turmoil because it does not know what to do with Jerusalem, because it does not know the book. God has divided all the nations and set their borders and bounds according to the number of the children of Israel. In Exodus 19, God says Israel will be above all people because He is sovereign, the world is His, and He can do with it as He pleases. Israel is to be a kingdom, and Les emphasizes that the kingdom is the coming earthly kingdom over which Christ will one day rule. Israel will be the apple of His eye and the greatest nation when that kingdom comes in, the only kingdom Scripture looks forward to.
