Can Christ be smitten twice or go to the cross again?

No. Christ was smitten for our offenses and went to the cross only once. Scripture emphasizes that this was done once, and He does not go again and again. After His resurrection, believers do not appropriate His work by another crucifixion but through fellowship, speaking, prayer, praise, and petition.

Les explains that Christ first had to suffer and die so these things could be appropriated by faith. According to the Old Testament term, He was smitten for our offenses. Les connects this to the account in Numbers, where Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to it, illustrating that you do not smite Christ twice. The Hebrew word over and over is “once.” He went to the cross once and does not go again and again and again. After He arose victorious over sin and death, we do not appropriate anything more by another crucifixion; now we appropriate it through fellowship, speaking, communication, prayer, praise, and petition.
