Where does the work have to be done instead of on the mountaintop?
The work must be done down in the valley, not on the mountaintop. A mountaintop experience may thrill and offer beautiful views, but nothing is accomplished there; believers must descend into the dirt and grime of the valley, where trials, tribulations, and disappointments occur.
Les explains that a mountaintop experience is something that thrills you—a beautiful place to see the view and feel the exhilaration of the high-altitude air. But he points out that you do not accomplish anything on a mountaintop. The work has to be done down in the valley. Les says this is always true with Christian experience: you may have a mountaintop experience, but do not try to stay there. You have to get down into the dirt and grime of the valley, where you will have the trials, tribulations, and disappointments.
