What does it mean to have a mountaintop experience?
A mountaintop experience is something that thrills you and gives a beautiful view with exhilarating high-altitude air. Yet no work is accomplished there; the work must be done down in the valley, amid trials, tribulations, and disappointments, so believers should not try to stay on the mountaintop.
Les explains that a mountaintop experience is something that just thrills you—a beautiful place to see the view and feel the exhilaration of high-altitude air. But he stresses that you do not accomplish anything on a mountaintop; the work has to be done down in the valley. That is how Christian experience works: you may have a mountaintop experience, but you should not try to stay there. You must get down into the dirt and grime of the valley, where trials, tribulations, and disappointments come.
