What happened to the cloud once the tabernacle was finished?

Once the tabernacle was completed, the supernatural cloud settled directly over the Holy of Holies, becoming Israel’s guiding light. When Israel needed to move, the cloud lifted and led them; when it stopped, they placed the tabernacle so the Holy of Holies rested under it.

Les explains that when the tabernacle was completed, the cloud set right over the Holy of Holies and became the guiding light of Israel. It was not an accident; it was the absolute presence of God—Christ, Jehovah, God the Son in His Old Testament personality. The cloud was supernatural: a cloud by day for shade and a pillar of fire by night for light. Whenever Israel was to move and camp elsewhere, the cloud lifted up and moved, and when it stopped, they were to set the tabernacle so the Holy of Holies was under the cloud. Les also marvels that the Jews could see that cloud daily and the fire nightly and still be so disobedient and prone to sin, then applies it to us: we are no different and have just as much evidence of the power of God.
