Where did the cloud rest in the tabernacle?

The cloud, representing the presence and glory of God, rested over the Holy of Holies within the tabernacle, filling the back room where the Ark of the Covenant was kept. It abode on the tabernacle, covering the tent of congregation, and remained day and night as pillar of fire by night and cloud by day.

Les explains that once the tabernacle was set up, a cloud covered the tent of the congregation and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle, so that even Moses could not enter. This cloud was the very presence of God, called the Shekinah glory. It was the same cloud that appeared when Israel came out of Goshen and encamped at the Red Sea, protecting them while bringing darkness to the Egyptians. Les teaches that this cloud came and rested over the Holy of Holies, the little back room containing the Ark of the Covenant, and it literally filled that space. The cloud remained there day and night, becoming a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day. When God intended Israel to move, the cloud would lift, and the tabernacle was taken down and moved until the cloud stopped, where it was set up again and Israel encamped.
