What did Satan understand from Genesis 3:15?

Satan understood Genesis 3:15 to mean the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent's head, foretelling the coming of a Redeemer. He knew this promised a Redeemer for the human race, so he immediately set out to prohibit that Redeemer's coming.

Les explains that as soon as God made the classic statement in Genesis 3:15, speaking to Satan that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent, Satan immediately knew what God was talking about. It was the coming of a Redeemer. Therefore Satan kicked into gear everything he could to prohibit the coming of a Redeemer for the human race. Les gives this background to show why the man in the letter was under such constant satanic attack.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
