What happens to believers when the trumpet sounds?

When the trumpet sounds, believers receive the call that the battle is over and they are going home. They will be taken out of this present existence, and, as Paul says, they will suddenly be changed. This call signals victory and the end of the warfare.

Les explains that the trumpet call is like the Roman army's signal after victory, when the general let the legionaries know they were going home to Italy and Rome. That trumpet call exalted every legionary because it meant the battle was over, they had won, and they were going home. Les applies this to believers: we are in a battle, and Christianity worldwide is coming under ferocious attack, with persecution rampant against Christians, and it is going to get worse. But when that trumpet call comes, it means the battle is over, come on home, and we will be out of here. Les believes we are getting closer to the day when that trumpet call will take us out of this existence, and we will suddenly, as Paul says, be changed.
