Can flesh and blood inherit the kingdom of God?
No. Scripture states that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither does corruption inherit incorruption. The old physical body is corrupt, prone to disease and failure, and is buried, but resurrection brings a new body fashioned after Christ’s resurrected body.
Les explains that flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom because the physical body is already corrupt and subject to disease and failure. What is buried is that body of corruption, but what comes out in resurrection power is a new body fashioned after Christ’s resurrected body. He also connects this to Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:18, expressing confidence that if this is not experienced in this life, it will be in the next.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
What kind of body can inherit the Kingdom of God?
A flesh-and-bone body, not a flesh-and-blood body, can inherit the Kingdom of God. In the eternal state, the Spirit of God will sustain that body, taking over the role blood now has, because life is presently in the blood but will then be in the Spirit.
Will we be flesh and blood in eternity?
Scripture indicates believers will not enter eternity as flesh and blood. Instead, they will be raised in a spiritual body—flesh and bone—with the Spirit as their life source. The natural body is sown in death and raised in resurrection power, retaining outward features but possessing eternal life rather than the temporal three score and ten.
