Les Feldick Bible Study

Why do we need a new body to inherit God's kingdom?

Because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor can corruption inherit incorruption. Since we have borne the image of the earthy Adam and are flesh and blood under the curse, we must be changed and receive a new spiritual body fashioned after Christ's resurrected body.

Les explains that verse 50 declares flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither does corruption inherit incorruption. Since we are sons of Adam, flesh and blood, under the curse, and have borne the image of the earthy, we must move from the natural state to the spiritual state. Therefore we need a whole new body, fashioned after Christ's body, especially after the resurrection. That glorious body is our hope, not contained by walls, ceilings, or space, yet still able to enjoy things like eating, because Christ ate on the shores of Galilee. Paul lays this out to establish basic doctrine, especially for Gentiles.

1 Corinthians 15:50

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
