Why does 1 Corinthians contain deep doctrine if it was written to carnal believers?

First Corinthians was addressed to carnal believers whom Paul could only feed milk, yet in that same letter he sets forth profound, deep doctrines of the whole Christian experience, especially resurrection. The context presents this as an amazing contrast rather than providing a specific rationale.

Les teaches that 1 Corinthians was written to carnal believers—the most carnal congregation Paul dealt with. Paul said he could not give them strong meat because they were still babes and carnal, so he had to feed them milk. Yet in that same letter, especially 1 Corinthians 15, he sets out profound, deep doctrines of the whole Christian experience, and that is resurrection. Les has been amazed by this as he studied it. He notes that maybe others can figure out how this works, but he has not been able to yet. The context contrasts their carnality with the depth of doctrine rather than explaining a clear reason.
