What does the Bible mean when it speaks of 'the Kingdom'?
When the Bible speaks of the Kingdom, it means the final thousand-year reign of Christ on the earth—the only valid Kingdom in Scripture. At that time He will be King of kings and Lord of lords, and this thousand-year Kingdom serves as the introduction to the eternal state.
Les explains that the Kingdom is the Kingdom because it is the only valid Kingdom in Scripture. Other kingdoms, such as a Gentile kingdom or Babylon, are different. When the Bible speaks of the Kingdom, it refers to the final thousand-year reign of Christ on the earth, after the resurrection of the just has been completed and the Kingdom is set up. Christ will then be King of kings and Lord of lords. This earthly Kingdom is not the end; the thousand years is an introduction to the eternal state, and all of this comes into focus in the Scriptural teaching concerning this earthly Kingdom.
