Why do church-going people in the Bible Belt not understand that we are in the end times?
Bible Belt churchgoers often attend church at least occasionally, yet when the end time is mentioned they respond with blank looks and do not comprehend how close it is. Scripture indicates the wise shall understand, while the wicked do wickedly; without knowing Scripture, churchgoing alone does not produce understanding.
Les explains that in Oklahoma, in the Bible Belt, most people go to church at least once in a while, but if you bring up the fact that we are in the end time, even most of these people look at you with a blank look and do not know what you are talking about. He says it is sad that people do not comprehend how close we are to the end time, not that it is 48 hours away, but in the relative term of the last 6,000 years we are certainly within the last moments of the age, whether it is a few years or whatever. The difference is that we can understand because we know the Scripture. The prophecy said the wicked will do wickedly, absolutely, and the wise shall understand. He also cites a poll statistic that 40% believed there were absolutes and 60% said there were none, and says no wonder we are in trouble.
