Why is the church unaware of end-time events happening now?
The church is unaware because it is spiritually asleep. Paul says it is high time to awake out of sleep, yet church people remain sound asleep, totally unaware of the events setting the stage for the final seven years of human history. Many do not want to be awakened and say they are comfortable, asking to be left alone.
Les explains that Paul, knowing the time, calls believers to wake out of spiritual sleep, and says that is where the church is tonight. Les teaches the church is sound asleep and totally unaware of all the things taking place in the world that are getting the stage set for the coming final seven years of human history. He mentions that fellow deacons and elders think he is "plumb nuts" when he talks about how everything is getting ready for the end time. They do not want to be woken up; they say, "Leave me alone," and in Illinois they say, "I'm comfortable, leave me alone." Les points out this is typical, but Paul says, "Hey, wake up." Since Paul thought it was the end time 2,000 years ago, it is certainly closer now.
