What should Saul logically have done after his conversion according to common sense?

By common sense, Saul should have returned immediately to Jerusalem, sought out Peter, James, and John, poured out his heart to the twelve men, recounted his conversion, confessed he had been wrong about Jesus, and declared his readiness to serve Him.

Les explains that Saul was just outside the walls of Damascus, in pitch darkness, with no explicit instructions yet except that he would suffer for God's name. If anyone put himself in Saul's shoes and used common sense, he would have headed straight back to Jerusalem and looked up Peter, James, and John. Those were the men who had been with Jesus for three years and headed the group Saul had been trying to destroy. Common sense says Saul should have poured out his heart to those twelve men, shared everything that had happened, confessed he had been dead wrong about Jesus, and said he was now ready to serve Him. Yet verse 16 says, 'Immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood.'
