Where would Saul naturally have gone after his conversion, and why?

After his conversion, Saul naturally would have gone back to Jerusalem to look up Peter, James, and John. He knew they had been with Jesus for three years and led the group he had tried to destroy, so common sense suggested he should pour out his heart to those twelve men.

Les explains that just outside Damascus, Saul had no explicit instructions yet and it was pitch dark. If we put ourselves in Saul's shoes, the natural move would be to head back to Jerusalem and look up Peter, James, and John. Saul knew those men had been with Jesus for three years and headed up the group he had been trying to destroy. Once Saul realized that the one he thought he was trying to obliterate was the very God he thought he was serving, common sense suggests he should have gone straight back to Jerusalem, poured out his heart to those twelve men, shared everything that had happened, confessed he had been dead wrong about Jesus, and said he was ready to serve Him.
