What did men of God begin to teach about prophecy in the mid-1800s?
In the mid-1800s, men of God began to put the prophetic Scriptures together, teaching about end-time events. They wrote concerning nations that would rise to power, such as Russia, and spoke of a returning Israel becoming a viable nation, because the Holy Spirit was opening the Scriptures.
Les explains that nothing had been preached or taught concerning end-time events until about the middle 1800s. Then men of God suddenly began to put the prophetic Scriptures together. They wrote about nations of the world that would come to the top, such as Russia—who would have dreamed Russia becoming a world power? They did by virtue of the Scriptures. They also talked about a returning Israel, the land of Israel once again becoming a viable nation, even though the Jews were scattered worldwide. This happened because the Scriptures were beginning to be opened up by the Holy Spirit. By 1900, a whole raft of men were putting end-time prophecies in perspective, and they were amazingly close to what has happened in recent years.
