What are believers constantly looking for?
Believers are constantly looking for the blessed hope, which is the soon appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is not merely the hope of going to heaven at death, but the glorious appearing of Christ, grounded in His resurrection from the dead.
Les explains that verse 13 is the best part: believers live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world while constantly looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. He clarifies that the blessed hope is not dying and going to heaven, which he calls a glorious hope, but the soon appearing of Christ. The reason is that He arose from the dead.
