Why does the world miss the simplicity of salvation?
The world misses the simplicity of salvation because it cannot believe that eternal salvation and the hope of glory come by doing nothing. God's door is at ground level, in front of every person; all one must do is believe and enter in, just as Abraham did nothing yet was justified.
Les explains that the door to the sheepfold is not on a sheer cliff requiring ropes and climbing gear, not across a roaring river requiring a boat or raft, and not across the ocean requiring a millionaire to buy a ticket. The plan of salvation is on ground level, in front of every human being, and all they have to do is believe it and enter in. It is narrow, but the way in is simple. The world misses it because they cannot believe that you can have eternal salvation, the hope of all glory, by doing nothing. That is what God demands, as taught in Romans: Abraham did nothing, yet he was justified in the same way as us.
