What is the primary purpose of everything we do in worship?

The primary purpose of everything done in worship is to bring honor and glory to God whom we claim to worship. In the local congregation, all things—including spiritual gifts and practices—are to be done decently and in order, because such order brings honor and glory to God.

Les explains that verse 40 says, "Let all things be done decently and in order," and this applies to the local congregation. That order matters because it brings honor and glory to the God whom we claim to worship. He warns that many people take these things out of context and forget that the primary purpose of all that we do is to bring honor and glory to God. This follows the instruction about desiring to prophesy and not forbidding the use of languages, all within the conduct of the local congregation.
