Are believers forgiven for past, present, and future sins?

Yes. When a person comes under the Gospel forgiveness purchased by Christ, all sins—past, present, and future—are forgiven. Believers will never come into God's presence with sin on their back because Christ has paid for it all, not by human effort but by His accomplished work.

Les explains that the very function of the Gospel is that Christ died for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose from the dead. When a person comes under that forgiveness, Les says, he or she is forgiven everything—past, present, and future—and will never come into God's presence with sin on their back, because it has all been paid for. This is beyond human comprehension, but it is believed because the Book teaches that believers have been forgiven all their trespasses not because of anything they have done, but because of what Christ accomplished on their behalf. Les notes this makes the Gospel simple yet complex, not fully understood this side of glory. In Galatians 2:20, Paul also speaks of being crucified with Christ by identification with His death, yet living, with that life lived by the faith—or, as Les prefers, the faithfulness—of the Son of God.
