Les Feldick Bible Study

What does it mean to listen to the Word of God according to Les?

Listening to the Word of God means taking God at His Word—hearing that Christ died and rose again, believing it, and thereby exercising faith. It involves no work or law-keeping; faith comes by hearing, and God recognizes that belief and moves to do what needs to be done.

Les teaches that listening to the Word of God is not a work but the hearing of faith. We contemplate the fact that Christ died and rose from the dead, recognize that this is all we need, and believe it. By believing it, we are listening to the Word of God. He defines faith as taking God at His Word: God said it, we believe it, and God recognizes it; on that basis He moves in and does everything that needs to be done. This is by faith, not the works of the Law. Les warns against beginning in the Spirit and then trying to be made perfect by the flesh, which refers to the Law. The Spirit is received by the hearing of faith, not by the works of the Law. Repetition helps these things soak in.
