How can many believers be called one bread?

Many believers are called one bread because, like numerous wheat kernels ground into flour and baked into a single loaf, individual born-again believers become a composite, unified body. Though many, they form one loaf, sharing the fellowship of the body of Christ.

Les explains that the bread speaks of the same truth as the body of Christ. Every born-again believer is a member of that body, and we are all members of each other. Just as a bin of wheat is comprised of individual kernels, and a loaf of bread is made from umpteen kernels ground into flour, so believers are individual members who become a composite of all those kernels. Even though the loaf comes from several thousand kernels of wheat, in the final makeup it is one loaf. Therefore, we being many are one bread, the fellowship of the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:17

For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
