What does resting on the blood of the Passover lamb mean for Gentiles today?
For Gentiles today, resting on the blood of the Passover lamb means relying on the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Just as Israelites in Egypt rested on the blood on the door, Gentiles in this Age of Grace rest on that same provision, being justified freely by God's grace through Christ's buying back.
Les teaches that this is what believers have to latch on to. Just as the Israelites in Egypt rested on the blood of the lamb on the door, Gentiles in this Age of Grace must rest on the same provision. The reason is Romans 3:23: all, every human being, has sinned and come short of the glory of God, so every person in his natural state is separated from God and cannot meet God's standard. But Romans 3:24 gives hope: even though all have sinned, we can be justified freely by His grace through the redemption or buying back that is in Christ Jesus. Les then points to the pattern of redemption in Scripture. Israel was God's covenant people, but because of the brother's sin, Joseph ended up in Egypt; while Joseph was there and the other brethren were in rebellion, God lost His chosen people. He would have to buy them back, and Exodus is the book of redemption, accomplished through the blood of the Passover lamb. It is the same way with us today.
