What did the Israelites resting on the blood of the lamb in Egypt picture for us today?

The Israelites resting on the blood of the lamb in Egypt pictures the resting of Gentiles in the Age of Grace on the blood of Christ. Just as Israel was redeemed by the Passover blood, believers today are justified freely by God's grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Les explains that this is what we have to latch on to: just as the Israelites in Egypt rested on the blood of the lamb on the door, we also must rest on that blood, even as Gentiles in this Age of Grace. He ties this to Romans 3:23-24, where all have sinned and come short of God's glory, yet we can be justified freely by His grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus. Les points out that Scripture repeatedly teaches the idea of something owned and lost. Israel was God's covenant people, but because of the brothers' sin, Joseph ended up in Egypt; while the brethren were in rebellion, God lost His chosen people and had to buy them back. Exodus is a book of redemption, and He bought them back through the blood of the Passover lamb. It is the same way with us today.
