Why should we love people whose actions we don't like?
Christ died for them, so they are to be loved for His sake even when their actions are disliked. Liking and loving are different: one may not like the person or approve of what they do, yet still love them for God's sake. This is a practical, everyday lesson.
Les teaches that there are people up and down the highways and byways of life whom we do not necessarily have to like. We certainly do not like the things they do, but we are still to love them for Christ's sake, because He died for them. He illustrates it with a devout religious cattle buyer who had rough language. When his five-year-old son cried because neighborhood children picked on him for being a different religion, the father set the boy on his lap and said, 'You don't have to like the little so-and-so's, but you're supposed to love them for God's sake.' Les says that was a lesson he never forgot.
