What happens when we take God at His Word?
When we take God at His Word, we believe what He has said, and God recognizes that faith. On that basis, He moves in and does everything that needs to be done. This is hearing with faith, not works of the Law, for faith comes by hearing and believing the Word.
Les teaches that faith is taking God at His Word. When we contemplate and recognize that Christ died and rose from the dead, and believe it, we are listening to the Word of God. God said it, we believe it, and God recognizes it; on the basis of that, He moves in and does everything that needs to be done. Les acknowledges this is simplification, but Scripture says it is by faith and not the works of the Law. Paul repeats this because repetition is the mother of learning. Having begun in the Spirit, we are not made perfect by the flesh, which refers to the Law—weak and beggarly. We receive the Spirit by the hearing of faith, not by the works of the Law.
